Challenges
We have worked together with Volvo Car Retail Solutions for many years, helping them build several web solutions that support both their business and their retailers. When it was time to take the next step, a minor update was no longer sufficient. The technical foundation needed to be renewed and rebuilt from the ground up. The existing solution was based on older LTS versions of Umbraco, which limited the ability to develop new features at the pace required by the organization.
At the start of the project, Volvo Cars also launched a new visual identity, which placed higher demands on both design and user experience.
For many years, the portal had relied on Umbraco’s built-in authentication. As the organization evolved, the need to reduce manual handling of users and permissions became increasingly clear, along with the importance of creating a more scalable and efficient solution for the future. At the same time, there was a desire to further align authentication with Volvo’s internal systems to simplify administration and strengthen security.
